Twenty-two years old with a journalism degree from UCLA and a promising entry level position at a television station, Madeline Patterson is ready to take on the Universe. Raised by two loving parents, adored by her grandmother, protected by her dog, Pepper, and supported by her best friend—Madeline has it all. There’s only one thing missing—literally missing—her identical twin, Melissa.
When Madeline and Melissa were three-years-old, their mother was carjacked in broad daylight while taking them to a doctor’s appointment. She was able to get away with Madeline in tow, but the assailants left the scene before she could rescue Melissa. A long and massive search ensued, but Melissa was never found and is believed to be dead. However, a dream Madeline has on her twenty-second birthday, wherein Melissa appears to her as a grown woman pleading for help, convinces her Melissa is still alive. Against her parents’ wishes, Madeline vows to find her twin. However, in doing so, she unknowingly stumbles upon a series of startling clues that point to her parents’ possible involvement in Melissa’s disappearance. Paralyzed by fear, Madeline doesn’t want to face what could possibly be the ugly and grim truth about her parents. However, her desire to find Melissa propels her forward—but nothing could prepare her for what she discovers.

So, I took a chance on this book. But I'm glad I did! Not only is this book an excellent mystery, but it keeps you engaged like a Korean TV Drama. You have to turn to the next page. I finished this 300+ book in a matter of 2 days. That's how good it was. And the ending was a total twist! I mean she came out of the woodwork with the ending! You wouldn't believe it! If you want something that's going to keep you turning the page, then read this book. Now I will say that there were lots of grammar and spelling mistakes. I don't know if the author did it herself but she really needs to get an editor to proofread. If you can overcome a couple of mispelled words, you will enjoy this book.

Missing Melissa edition by Alretha Thomas Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
Felt like I was reading a Jody Picoult novel. Alretha Thomas has such a likable way with words like "normal is a setting on a washing machine and not what our lives are supposed to be." Will certainly read more books of hers.
This wasn't a bad book if you like light stories with predictable plotlines and not too deep characters. I thought it was just kind of sappy and cliche. If you want something light to keep your mind off of things or while on vacation, then this book is for you.
The thought of a child being abducted in carjacking gone wrong is horrific. It would be natural to read about a parent's search for that child. Alretha Thomas steps outside the box by writing about a sibling searching for that child. She adds the emotional impact of that sibling being the twin of the abducted child.
Maddy searches for her abducted twin sister, Melissa. After twenty years, is Melissa still alive? Are Maddy's parents truly pillars of the community, or are they somehow involved?
Emotionally gripping, this book kept me guessing with each clue. A little love interest and some humor on BFFS helped balance the heavier emotional issue of Missing Melissa.
This is definitely worth reading, and I think it's a great made-for-tv story.
Missing Melissa is an enjoyable book, a light mystery that I found entertaining and kept moving at a good but not rushed pace. Like any light mystery romance, I did not expect anything more than what I got from it; a fun book to read late at night that took me away from my own tedious writing, cleared my brain and kept me guessing in every chapter. I'm usually very good at solving mysteries in most books and movies, but t his one kept me guessing, vacillating between Melissa's sanity and vivid imagination, either parent, or an imaginary twin. Never until the end did I suspect the ending and the real culprit. And just when I thought I'd reached the end, another twist brought forth one more chapter and a truly unexpected end. If I say more I'll spoil it for other readers. All in all I recommend this book. It's great and you won't be bored.
The plot of this book is interesting, but the delivery is not up to par with the creative storyline. The writing is choppy, juvenile, and dumbed down. Everything is stated in the most obvious terms making the story less interesting. I wish this plot had been written by a more skilled author. It could have been a great novel under different writing.
A one star is being generous. Wading through this liberal garbage writing is tedious and taxing. I find myself looking at the bottom of the page and wondering why the percentage read is so low. Taking forever to finish. Talk of liberal TV Shows, amnesty bills, global warming and slobbering dogs would make any sane person nauseated. And have a dog lick you all over AFTER he has licked all over his private parts, NO thank you!!! Is there anyone stupid enough to meet with a potential kidnapper and/or murderer when requested to do so on Facebook, without telling anyone?? Our little liberal star does. She also talks about her role as a journalist which requires intellect, which I have found absent in 90% of those on TV today. Our little star’s role models are useless, extreme leftists, most of which max out with double digit IQs. Plus the author uses fodder filler with the main character constantly talking to a dumb dog as if the dog is going to answer. What a waste of ink. Mommy loves you, Aunt Ruby loves you, Uncle Clay loves you, how sickening!!! At least Uncle Clay didn’t want the stupid dog jumping all over him and licking him. Even at the expense of losing the girl, which no girl in the world is worth that yoke to bear. Yuk!!! Ending was the only part written with taste with no leftist leanings involved. Superb ending!! Too bad the author couldn’t have left her liberal politics out of the story. She hasn’t learned yet that Liberalism and God are like water and oil, they are impossible to mix.
This has a great premise and is a good story. There are sections that are awkwardly worded or stilted. It doesn't flow as well as I would like. The plot wasn't fleshed out enough. The details of the mystery randomly appeared and didn't make sense sometimes. The romantic relationship for the main character was good until you throw in the random sexual elements that do not fit the storyline. It is almost as if the elements were thrown in to make the story a little spicier, but it wasn't needed.
This is a good book, it just needs work to polish it and make it great.
So, I took a chance on this book. But I'm glad I did! Not only is this book an excellent mystery, but it keeps you engaged like a Korean TV Drama. You have to turn to the next page.
